Your Doga instructor will guide you and your pup through a 60-minute yoga practice and provide moments throughout the class for you to bond, reward, and breathe with your dog. You will be encouraged to share your energy with your dog and explore the natural bond that exists between you and your canine best friend. Doga will provide you an opportunity to learn from your dog how to be in the present and have fun, while our dogs may pick up the calm and focus of our practice, eventually becoming more relaxed and comfortable with sharing a space with others. Meet the Chocolate Maker, A Chocolate Tasting Event Saturday, September 15 Did you know fine chocolate is like fine wine? From fruity to earthy, floral to warm spices, join fine chocolate maker Todd Oliver as he takes us on a world tour of rare chocolate. Our journey begins with a brief tour of the early history of cacao, and what differentiates ‘fine’ cacao from bulk chocolate. As a follow up, we will walk through the process of bean-to-bar chocolate making. You’ll experience taking roasted cocoa beans in your hand and hearing the ‘crack’ of the bean, enjoying the taste of the nib. As Todd shares some of his favorite chocolates, you’ll become versed in how to taste and judge chocolate for yourself. As a take home gift, you’ll have the opportunity to take a bar of your favorite chocolate home with you. Join us to create your own, one-of-a-kind acrylic pet portrait on canvas, done in a colorful style inspired by American Pop Artist Andy Warhol. No artistic experience is necessary! We begin with a short lesson about painting techniques with 3 different brush types. Then, we'll walk you through each step of the process - from transferring your pet's image to the canvas with graphite, to painting the background, to painting the main features of your pet, to the final finishing details. We will use vibrant, non-toxic acrylic paints. All art materials and light refreshments will be provided. Keep your pet safe! Stop by Pup Plaza to have your pet microchipped! For $20, you can have peace of mind knowing that your pet has permanent identification. Please bring all pets on leash or in a carrier. Studies have shown that cats are 20x more likely to be reunited with their families when microchipped. Dogs are 2.5x as likely to be reunited! Collars and tags can fall off or be damaged, but microchips are permanent and can’t be lost! You will love these photos! And the best part is that a portion of your fee is going directly to Silicon Valley Pet Project and Pup Plaza – so you will be spreading the love to pups in need. In this webinar, Jessica Char of Canine Engineering will cover different types of problems you might experience when leaving your dog home alone and tips for dealing with them. We’ll discuss ways of preparing your dog now for being alone in the future. And finally, we’ll dive into what to do if you already know your dog has issues being alone and why right now is the perfect time to start working on separation anxiety. Healing Pet Loss In this free online workshop participants will learn ways to deal with the sadness and loss (especially if, because of quarantine, you could not be with your pet) - and maybe even the judgment of others who have not felt such a special bond with an animal. We'll also discuss anticipatory grief and the special situation of getting a scary diagnosis for your pet during quarantine. Participants will get and share ideas about how to memorialize a pet. We'll discuss if and when to get another pet. The format is discussion and will be facilitated by Carol Cassara, M.S., founder of A Healing Spirit and mom to SVPP alums Cutie & Benji.
