This special Maltipoo is almost totally blind, yet his zest for life is remarkable!  Intelligent, resourceful and independent, Fonzo is eager to explore his surroundings, and loves his toys. His foster mom is teaching him basic commands like “sit,” and helping him learn to trust in his dynamic world.

Fonzo's condition is called "Microphthalmia." He has slight function in his right eye; his left eye has been removed. As he matures, he'll learn to use his remaining senses to make up for a lack of sight. His environment and routine will need to be kept as consistent as possible with any changes introduced gradually.  Because of his condition, eye protection will need to be used in direct sunlight. Fonzo's foster mom says he loves to frolic and explore the yard in shady areas while she gardens and keeps a close watch. 

Fonzo will do best with a patient and loving stay-at-home owner who has experience with a special needs dog. This little fluff ball is soothed by familiar voices, loves to be touched and will enjoy a companion who has time to train him to navigate his world and give lots of snuggles.

Only homes with no children, or kids over the age of 15 will be considered.
