Ace is an adorable, scruffy little 10 lb. havanese/terrier mix who is awaiting his forever family.  He is currently in a foster home with two older dogs and recovering from ear infections and tooth extractions. Being eager to please, treat motivated, and super smart, Ace is a very quick learner.  Once he feels comfortable, his favorite activity is cuddling next to his humans and enjoying being the center of attention. His o ther favorite activities  are car rides, walks, sunbathing,  and earning treats. He has a lot of love and affection to give. We don't know his life story but know that he is slow to trust and transition into new situations. Ace will require a patient and experienced adopter who can help him learn to trust again, and one who will let him set the pace in developing the relationship with his new family members. Once he feels safe, he will be incredibly sweet and deeply loyal.  He needs a positive environment where all of the humans can respect his boundaries.   He may be moody in the initial weeks and may exhibit fear aggression when uncomfortable or his boundaries are not respected. Ace  does not give his loyalty quickly; it will take time and patience.  He will do best with plenty of exercise. He gets along well with other small dogs; we do not know how he is with cats. Ace  is house trained, crate-trained, and able to behave while the humans are away. Although he walks well on leash, he  can be leash reactive in close quarters with other dogs and will require some additional leash training. We are including two consulting sessions with our dog behaviorist as part of his adoption package.   

Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.
