Papi is a 15 year old, 13 pound chihuahua mix. Sweet little senior boy, Papi, has had a challenging life. He lost his original owner nearly 12 years ago, and was recently rescued by animal control officers from a difficult hoarding situation. We don't know how he survived, but not only did he survive all of that, he did so all while living with a severely damaged eye. Thanks to his wonderful foster and specialty vets, we have learned so much about this sweet boy over the past few months.

Papi's damaged eye is not functional, but it is also not bothering him at all! According to Animal Eye Specialists, he is perfectly happy and healthy with the eye, so it can stay where it is. He will need follow up every six months or so just to be sure it remains stable.

Papi's foster family has learned that he is a happy, affectionate little boy who loves to take walks every day. He will even remind his foster mom if she is a little late starting his walk! Papi is fully housetrained, and is very good about letting his family know when he needs to go out. He loves to lay in the warm grass and watch birds. If left alone, he will dig, but quickly stops when told "No, Papi". He loves to sleep in his crate, and sleeps all night with no complaints. Because of his vision, Papi is cautious about going through doors and approaching new things, but he learns quickly with encouragement and love.

Papi is due for his neuter and chip in early February. He will be ready for his new , forever home soon after.

Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.
