Chancho was surrendered to the local shelter for an all too common reason - the specialty veterinary care he needed was very expensive, and something his family couldn't afford with a child going to college.

Given his need for orthopedic surgery (for a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament), Chancho was at risk for euthanasia at the shelter and needed rescue to save his life. After speaking to his owner, Silicon Valley Pet Project stepped in and rescued Chancho with the understanding that we would pay for the necessary surgery if his owner would provide the supportive care Chancho needed.

Chancho's family was more than willing to provide this support - Chancho had been a loving family member for 9 years! Thanks to the support of our donors, we are able to help dogs like Chancho get the advanced vet care they need.
